Elīna Ozola

Easier to understand. Easier to use.

Finding what you need, making a choice, applying for a service. Everyday actions that often hide complex processes. My work is to understand those processes and the people who face them, so that the digital solutions we build are well thought through.

More than ten years in design: from Tet TV+ to insurance and public digital services. Both designing myself and leading teams.

Different industries. Focus on people.

Watching TV, buying insurance or applying for a public service: in each situation a person has their own goal, questions and obstacles.

Work on Tet, If, Zen IS and BTA projects has given me experience with customer apps and websites as well as the systems employees use every day. At BTA this now means user research, the design of digital solutions and the development of the design system.

Alongside product work: leading design teams, running design-thinking workshops and teaching user-centred content and digital accessibility.

What I help solve

  • Defining an unclear problem

    Situation
The team senses that a product or process is not working, but there is no shared view of what exactly is wrong and why.
    What I do
I interview users and front-line staff, analyse data and competitors, and frame the problem and priorities together with stakeholders in design-thinking workshops.
    Outcome
An evidence-based basis for decisions before development budget is spent.
  • Simplifying complex services

    Situation
Insurance, financial information or a public service is correct in substance but hard for people to understand and complete.
    What I do
I map the journey from end users to internal staff, design flows and prototypes, test them with users and hand them over to development.
    Outcome
A service people can complete without help, and less load on support.
  • Aligning stakeholders

    Situation
Decisions get stuck between business, IT and marketing, and everyone has a different picture of the goal.
    What I do
I run workshops, design-thinking programmes and design critique, and turn opinions into shared goals, target groups and KPIs.
    Outcome
One direction, and decisions that do not come back to the next meeting.
  • Building design practice and systems

    Situation
The organisation has design, but no process, system or team that keeps it consistent.
    What I do
I build design systems, ways of working and teams, and make accessibility (WCAG) an everyday standard rather than a final check.
    Outcome
A consistent product across platforms and cheaper development through reusable components.

A few projects that mattered

Each one starts with a problem: a business challenge or a user need that has not been met.

  1. Baltic Claims system screen: claim details, notes and tasks
    If P&C Insurance2023–2024

Baltic Claims system and partner portal

A claims-handling system used daily by claims specialists across the Baltics. User interviews were carried out to uncover the main pain points, and the findings were turned into concrete UX and UI improvements: simpler flows and a clearer visual hierarchy. The partner portal was substantially improved as well. The work was done in close collaboration with developers and business analysts.

  2. Personal accident insurance purchase, coverage step with price summary
    If P&C Insurance2023–2025

Fully digital personal accident insurance purchase

A new, fully digital personal accident insurance webshop, designed from scratch through the full UX/UI cycle. The user journey was defined, prototypes were built and tested with users, and a clear, purchase-focused experience was handed over to development. The solution covers both customers and front-line staff, including internal tooling for customer support.

  3. manapensija.lv home page with age-group sections
Latvijas Banka, a Zen IS project2024–2026

    Mana pensija

A site that explains the Latvian pension system and helps people choose a plan. The work was led from secondary data and competitor analysis through user research, personas, concept and prototype tests (36 interviews and tests in total), as well as problem-definition workshops with the client. Dense financial information became clear pages with calculators, comparisons and a design system.

  4. business.gov.lv home page with service search and main sections
    LIAA, a Zen IS project2024–2026

    business.gov.lv, state services for entrepreneurs

A portal that brings state e-services for entrepreneurs into one place and guides them through complex processes. Goals, target groups and KPIs were set in a workshop with LIAA stakeholders; new layouts for public and authorised users were designed and user-tested; and a scalable design system was built with clear foundations for colour, typography and components.

    Head of Research & Design
  5. Three Tele2 app screens: invoice, offer and TV package selection
    Tele22023–2024

    Design-thinking programme for app development

A twelve-week design-thinking programme aimed at making the app Tele2's main digital point of contact with customers. The programme was created and run end to end: 20 participants in four teams, each with its own user focus, four on-site workshops and five online sessions. Together with a UI designer, the teams' ideas were developed into an app design solution on a shared design system.

  6. Tet.lv redesign on laptop and phone: themed TV packages
    Tet2022–2023

    Tet.lv redesign and design system

The Tet.lv website redesign after the rebrand, leading the UI team: concept with the team, UI roadmap, workshops and communication with stakeholders and marketing. Alongside, a design system was built from scratch: guidelines and components rolled out step by step across products and reused in Storybook to reduce development costs.

About

I am Elīna Ozola, a UX and service designer from Latvia; until now I have also been known professionally as Elīna Ozola-Tērauda. I have worked in design for more than ten years: I started in graphic and web design, moved into product design across platforms (web, iOS, Android and TV) and in recent years focused on user research, service design and building design teams.

I currently work in user research and design at BTA, building the UX practice and design-system foundations, running user research and designing digital solutions. Before that I led the Research & Design team at Zen IS and UX and service design at If P&C Insurance in the Baltics. I run design-thinking workshops and programmes and teach accessibility and user-centred content to public-sector teams. In 2026 I completed a degree in business management at Turība University.
